Rattles, wind chimes or musical mobiles are all great – you can’t go wrong. Think about the about the colours and patterns – in particular the bright colours and high-contrast patterns. High-contrast black, white and red toys help your baby pick out differences in shapes and patterns in the early weeks. As he gets older, he'll love brightly coloured toys.
When choosing toys for your new baby, stick with safe, simple objects that encourage exploration and open-ended play. Things like rattles and other grabbing toys, balls, activity gyms and board books are great for encouraging developmental milestones during your baby's first six months.
If you are thinking of something for 3-month-old babies, then great toys include teethers, bouncers, tummy time mats, rattles, and small musical toys.
Things for pretending and building are a bonus too. You’ll be amazed how many times you little one will want to recreate the same structure and then KNOCK IT DOWN accompanied with delightful laughter! Well that’s just fun for all of us isn’t it!
Blocks are great for building complex structures can be added to with transportation toys, construction sets, child-sized furniture (“apartment” sets, play food), dress-up clothes, dolls with accessories, puppets and simple puppet theatres, and sand and water play toys.
